DAILY CELEBRATIONS IN JANUARY 2019, 2nd – 14th
1st JANUARY | TUESDAY
HANGOVER DAY
Seems pretty logical to start the New Year with this quirky celebration. Well, not exactly a celebration, but a special day to treat your own or someone’s hangover. Or just to have a good reason to stay in bed all day long. Or maybe feel more connected with your fellows – sharing the same misery and aches. But also those moments of fun the New Year’s Eve.
Anyway, on Hangover Day, you can try some of the best ever hangover relief remedies. You can find them in Google. But if you know someone who’s more likely to suffer by the alcohol and you really love them, The Hungover Cookbook Hardcover by

WORLD INTROVERT DAY
Introverts are these special people in your life who probably avoid the crowdy parties; who prefer staying home alone with a favorite drink and book; who appreciate the little things in life. Introverts always take their time to find precisely the best gifts to give to their closest friends; they carefully wrap it and make it an extremely personal experience.
As a real introvert, I must admit that I always feel the need to go above and beyond when it comes to gift-giving. On the other side, I always feel honored to receive any gift, no matter how big or small. As long as it is thoughtful! (it’s a natural explanation why this blog is all about thoughtful gifts, right?).
Introvert Day is a dedicated holiday to celebrate the introversion across the globe since 2011. Take a look at some great gift ideas that any introvert would enjoy. Or try to find more information and brainy quotes about introverts.
OTHER CELEBRATIONS:
- SCIENCE FICTION DAY
- JRR TOLKIEN DAY
3rd JANUARY | THURSDAY
CHOCOLATE-COVERED CHERRY DAY
It is impossible to have only one of these chocolate-covered cherry candies. Their other name is cordials. Black chocolate, juicy cherry dipped in a slightly burning sugar liquor – wow, I so much love them! (check what your favorite candy tells about your personality here)
DRINKING STRAW DAY
It is believed that the very first drinking straws were used by the Sumerians for drinking beer. It is speculated that they used the straws to avoid the solid byproducts of fermentation that would have sunk to the bottom. One of the most ridiculously spread myths I’ve ever heard however was that when you drink a beer with a straw, you’ll get drunk more easily. (anyway, what’s your experience?)
How to celebrate the day? Simply find a bunch of straws, scissors, turn on the iron and choose one of the absolutely awesome craft ideas using drinking straws. Any of projects are pretty fun to do and are great activities to do with your kids. I’ve personally tried the easy bracelets from plastic straws project but turned it into a vase decoration.
Gift Ideas for people who celebrate a birthday on 3rd Jan 2019:
- cool handmade gifts made of plastic straws;
- lovely tasting cordials;
- incorporate plastic straw craft activities into your kid’s birthday party.
4th JANUARY | FRIDAY
TRIVIA DAY
The term “trivia” originally means something very new. Over time, it has become a term referring to obscure, curious and odd facts about geography, history, art, science, sports, entertainment, and pop culture. In the US, the game, then called Trivial Pursuit was released in 1984, when over 20 million games were sold.
How to celebrate the day? Gather up some friends and play the Trivia game. Use #NationalTriviaDay to post on social media.
Gift Ideas for people who celebrate a birthday on 4th Jan 2019:
- Trivia games of all kind
- Encyclopedia of everything
5th JANUARY | SATURDAY
SPAGHETTI DAY
One of the most lovable (and easy) dishes all time! Which is your favorite – spaghetti ala Carbonara or Bolognese? Garlic, basil, olive oil, tomato sauce, meat sauce, Alfredo sauce, clam sauce – all of these variations make my dinners yummy. Thank you, Italy!
How to celebrate: check a new spaghetti pasta recipe and bring your friends to test it out. Better option to get prepared an Italian Dinner Party for your family and friends – you know, spaghetti al-dente, a lot of parmesan cheese, Italian wine… oh, and don’t forget about Julia Roberts and Eat, Pray, Love.
Gift Ideas for foodies who celebrate a birthday on 5th Jan 2019:
- spaghetti kitchen gadgets – traditional Pasta Maker, the innovative Spaghetti Twirling Forks, or these classic Spaghetti forks that feature 3 ridged prongs to keep noodles in place, these cute For-Ghetti forks for kids too, this funny Pasta Serving Portion Control Measuring Tool, or a handy Spaghetti cookbook for the real pasta lover.
6th JANUARY |SUNDAY
CUDDLE UP DAY
As January is typically one of the coldest months of the year, what better way to stay warm by cuddling – your lovely partner, your furry friend or your Teddy Bear?
Some health facts – cuddling releases oxytocin, the hormone that reduces pain and ache ( if you once gave birth, you know about it!). Cuddling releases dopamine, the hormone that stimulates the brain to seek pleasure. So cuddling boost sexual desire, too.
How to celebrate? On this day cuddle as much as you can. If you don’t have someone to cuddle up with, why not make an appointment for a relieving massage? And use #NationalCuddleUpDay
7th JANUARY | MONDAY
TEMPURA DAY
Tempura is a traditional Japanese dish. It is made up of either seafood or vegetables that are battered and deeply fried. Oh, and enjoyed by millions of people across the world. Chefs include tempura on their menus using a variety of different ingredients, even not typically Japanese. Some meats, usually chicken and cheeses, are known to be served tempura-style in many restaurants. But for sushi lovers (like me), the tempura sushi has the entire piece of sushi dipped in batter and fried.
How to celebrate? Enjoy a Japanese food dinner at the nearest Japanese restaurant.
Gift Ideas for foodies who celebrate a birthday on 7th Jan 2019: Funny Tempura memory flash drive, King and Prince Mrs.Fridays 4 Large Tempura Shrimps, Tempura Mini fryer-pot with drainer, or the favorite Japanese food cookbook (available on Kindle too)
trivia: the word “tempura” comes from the word “tempora”, a Latin word meaning “times”, “time period”.

- BOBBLEHEAD DAY
8th JANUARY | TUESDAY
BUBBLE BATH DAY
Do you know that the main purpose of the bubbles on top of the water is to keep it warmer for a longer period of time? And giving us a lot of pleasure, especially on the cold winter January nights.
Rich bubbles, beautifully scented candles, luxurious body oils, quiet music, and a little time to ourselves…or in just one word – RELAXATION. Bubble Bath day is best celebrated by pampering yourself in a nice warm/hot bubble bath. Why not try a DIY Bath Bombs? The best part is that you can switch up the look and smell of the bath bombs to your favorite ones – check a fast tutorial here. Use #BubbleBathDay to post on social media. And invite your lovely dear to celebrate together.

APRICOT DAY
It is thought that the word ‘apricot’ originated from Latin, meaning “precious”. And that’s what apricots are – precious by all means! Apricot lovers know that a single cup of apricot halves is beneficial for their health (read the post on this). Plus they are extremely yummy!
To celebrate Apricot day, it is way too boring to go, buy & eat some fresh, frozen or dried apricots. Then why not an apricot-themed day? Try a new apricot recipe, buy that enchanting fragrant apricot body mist, pour a glass of Barack brandy, relax in a hot bubble bath full of apricot bath fizzles, try that super easy and refreshing apricot face mask. You can even plant an apricot tree! It is not the apricot season, but still, you can be creative!

10th JANUARY |THURSDAY
BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE DAY
Bittersweet chocolate (known as dark chocolate) is one of the healthiest candies. So the smarties who love the 80+% cocoa celebrate today. Have you ever heard that a piece (or maybe 2, or 3…) of dark chocolate is ‘good for the heart’? And it is true, according to health studies (and my grandmom). This is the kind of chocolate most commonly used in baking, including the American favorite chocolate chip cookies. Use #BittersweetChocolateDay to post on social media and try a yummy recipe.
Gift Ideas for people who celebrate a birthday on 10th Jan 2019 plus all dark chocolate lovers: Dark Chocolate Handmade Soap, Dark Chocolate with Diamond, Organic Non-Dairy Vegan Chocolate, Dark Chocolate Wine Set.

WORLD THANK YOU DAY
Today is the politest date in the year, no doubt. We all realize the importance of good manners in our life, but most of the thanks we say is with no-thinking about the real meaning of the words.
Meanwhile, according to psychologists, words of thankfulness are almost magical for our both mental and physical health – a simple, but thoughtful thank-you increase our happiness level with 10 percent, while depressive symptoms falls down ( 35 % less, wow!) Also, the words of gratitude have a warming and comforting effect if you say them sincerely and from the bottom of your heart. So let’s thank more often and more honestly! This celebration is the ideal opportunity to show your gratitude to people who make your days happier!

OTHER CELEBRATIONS:
- LEARN YOUR NAME IN MORSE CODE DAY
12th JANUARY | SATURDAY
PHARMACIST DAY
This day aims to honor the pharmacists. It is not a holiday, but a simple way to bring a smile on your favorite pharmacist who is always there to give you precious advice and reminders knows much more about your private life and health status than anyone else and only ever sees you at your worst condition. In other words – a friend, a personal advisor, a magician (as said in the Pharmacist Definition Funny Gift Mug)
Take a moment to visit a pharmacy (especially the one you visit regularly) with a smile on your face and a healthy bounce to your step – a simple greeting and a “thank you” can boost their enthusiasm to do their jobs patiently, tolerably, always happy to help. Use #NationalPharmacistDay to post on social media and send greetings to your fellow pharmacists.

OTHER CELEBRATIONS:
- KISS A GINGER DAY
13th JANUARY | SUNDAY
RUBBER DUCKY DAY
Remember Sesame Street? A friend of Ernie and Big Bird, Duckie made his debut in the February 1970 episode, although Rubber Duckie’s Birthday is January 13th. The rubber ducky’s 1st concept was to serve as a chew toy for babies. The rubber ducky became a Toy Hall of Fame inductee in 2013 (along with only 52 other toys).
There’s no child who hasn’t played with the rubber ducky while having a warm and joyful bath. It is curious that The British Tabloid The Sun reported Queen Elizabeth II had a rubber duck in her bathroom that wore an inflatable crown.
Use #RubberDuckyDay to post on social media. Check other Smart Baby Gift Ideas here along with the classic Rubber Ducky toy. Try a bath arty for your kids with lots of rubber duckies and bubbles (if you’ve missed the Bubble Bath Day on Jan 8th celebration). 🙂
MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE DAY
This unofficial holiday encourages people to be proactive about achieving what they want to. So if you have been a terrible procrastinator on fulfilling your dream, this is your chance to get things in the right direction. Don’t make the mistake to let your dreams remain just dreams and tiny bits of fantasy {doomed to remain that way}.
Take advantage of today’s celebration, talk to someone who inspires you, make a vision board {with images and words relating to your dream}, write down your dream, plan a route to success, set clear goals and deadlines. And don’t be afraid to dream with wide opened eyes!
Gift Ideas for people who celebrate a birthday on 13th Jan 2019: Vision board supplies, She Designed A Life She Loved Planner

ORGANIZE YOUR HOME DAY
It is difficult to keep our homes tidy and organized all the time, especially having kids or pets (hopefully, toy organizers saved my home from toy-cluttering!). And it is so damn easy to keep putting off tasks that always seem to require too much effort and time. Organize Your Home Day is the perfect chance to stop making excuses for just one day and get your home back into shape! Like all those little and DIY tasks that you hate or you’ve been planning to finish like months ago.
