Valentine’s Day Poems For Your Sweetheart {Free Print Art} Endless Love Inspiration
Why don’t you express your love feelings with Valentine’s day poems this year?
It is that time of the year (again) when everyone is scrambling around looking for the best way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It is also the time to find the perfect gift for the special person in your life. Very often it is more the thought and small acts of love that count and not necessarily the gift of any kind. Some of these gifts could be the special Valentine’s day poems.
Choose one of these following masterpieces for your man or lady, write them down with your own handwriting or have them printed. Put the sheet of paper in a beautiful music or a jewelry box or a decorative bottle and see the effect that Valentine’s day love poems have on us and our emotions.
It’s worth give a try.
Isn’t This Valentine’s Day Poems Technique Too Lame?
I need to confess a truth about me:
I am not a fan of poetry. But certainly, there are poems that attract my attention immediately, break my introvert tough shell and touch my gentle inner soul (a Taurus, what more to say…).
It took me time to discover these following love poems as a gentle way to convey love. So touching …
Enjoy the magic!
Valentine’s Day Poems Count for Both Women and Men!
Huh, what? Do I fool myself thinking that a real man would value a love poem?
Oh, sweethearts, I’ve learned the truth straight from the men.
Different men. Different age. Different status. Everything different. But do you know something?
They are human beings, too. Please never ever think that Valentine’s Day is for the men to do something romantic for us. You must know that the man in your life is probably more sensitive that you could ever imagine! It’s not all about socks, beer, TV, and sex (although I doubt for the latter… )
Anyway, instead of a huge and expensive gift this year (that will freak you out and break your budget too), why not find one of the many Valentine’s day poems for your sweetheart and accessorize your lovely small romantic gift with it?
Valentine’s Day Love Poem {for HIM} | How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways
The following poem sets the heart on fire. No man can resist a poem of this caliber to be read to him. It’s written by Elizabeth Barret Browning, born in England, in 1806. This is one of the poems that has been used over and over again but has never lost its meaning. It’s called How Do I Love Thee?
(thee is actually an archaic or also dialect form of you and it’s very commonly used in poetry)
It is dedicated to Elizabeth’s husband, Robert Browning. The poem is also neutral enough to be read to the man in your life. It’s known to be the 43rd Sonnet from her best works ever – Sonnets from the Portuguese (her husband Robert Browning used to call her sweetly: “my little Portuguese”, although she wasn’t Portuguese). Here is how the poem goes:
How Do I Love Thee?
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
I guess every man or woman in love would be enthralled by hearing such a touching and intimate poem. It is not only a declaration of love, but it also illustrates the depth of the feelings. Listening to the beautiful melodic tones of this classic poem can bring across your message clearly (close your eyes for best results):
To all of this you might want to add: “If a hug represented how much I loved you, I would hold you in my arms forever.” This is a quote by Mandy Hampton.
There you have one of your valentines poems for him.

Valentine’s Day Love Poem {for HER} | If I Lost You, The Air Wouldn’t Move
Surprisingly, finding Valentine’s day poems for her was much easier than to find poems for him. Of course, there are many poems that would suit a lady. So finding one, though, that would fit with the kind of person she is, is going to be not so difficult.
As I was making my Valentine’s day poems research, I’ve noticed something curious (again, as a non-poetry person). Poetry reading happened to be quite fascinating to me; each new poem I’ve read brought me in a different, more intimate, cherished, romantic and more exciting world, far from all trivial things and recent problems. I know that every woman would appreciate for real a love poem for Valentine’s day. So it will be great to start with this quote: “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” This is a quote by Lao Tzu.
It is wonderful for a woman and a man to know such love. A poem that is very much directed at the woman is called “To Dorothy” written by Marvin Bell. He is an American poet, born in the Bronx in 1937. Poetry Laureate, who was honored with many awards.
But one of the most prominent is the award of the Lamont Poetry Prize, which was given by the Academy of American Poets. The poem reads as follows:
To Dorothy
You are not beautiful, exactly.
You are beautiful, inexactly.
You let a weed grow by the mulberry
and a mulberry grow by the house.
So close, in the personal quiet
of a windy night, it brushes the wall
and sweeps away the day till we sleep.A child said it, and it seemed true:
“Things that are lost are all equal.”
But it isn’t true. If I lost you,
the air wouldn’t move, nor the tree grow.
Someone would pull the weed, my flower.
The quiet wouldn’t be yours. If I lost you,
I’d have to ask the grass to let me sleep.
Reading such a poem to a lady would bring across the sincerity of one’s love for her. It captures the essence of what love really is as it identifies the real meanings of beauty and love.
Even though the poem is written for a specific woman (Dorothy) the essence would touch the heart of any woman if it comes from the man she loves.

Valentine’s Day Poem About Love Just To Cheer A Friend Up | Love After Love
We’ve all experienced tough breakups at least once in our lifetime. Even though this poem is not part of the usual romantic Valentine’s day poems, it reminds us of how we should love, and how to continue until we find love again. Never give up. Be able to look through the window again. Be a part of the world out there.
This might just be the year for a new beginning. If the year of the Fire Rooster wasn’t that great for new relationships in your life or your friend’s life, then maybe next Valentine’s would be thrilling!
Derek Walcott is from the West Indies where he completed his studies at the University of the West Indies. He has received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992. His masterpiece sounds like this:
Love After Love by Derek Walcott
“The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome, and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved youall your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.”
Beautiful, isn’t it? Find more Valentines day poems here.
Keep-Love-In-Your-Life Thing To Remember | Oscar Wilde
It’s just not possible to talk about love and to not mention Oscar Wilde.
Oscar Wilde said: ” Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.” The most important thing about Valentine’s Day is not to sit and look at the world go by, but to know that you are part of it and its beauty.
As I mentioned above, a love poem written on a fancy sheet of paper is a great companion to your gift. Something significant, meaningful, romantic and gentle. And the perfect substitute for any Valentine’s card.
