Valentines Day Songs – Love on Top [part3]
Tic-tac tic-tac. Two more days for the Valentine to come! Love is all around, can you feel it? Get ready for the next portion of 7 valentines day songs. This time we choose not only romantic but before all up-to-date love songs.
Once we hear the word “valentines” we are much inclined to associate it with love. And yes – that’s the truth. Valentines day music is the one that brings the atmosphere needed by the people in love. If it’s not for the romantic music, St.Valentine would never be the same celebration of love as we all know it.
Valentine’s day actually brought the culture of appreciating and expressing love that much. Feeling loved is a great feeling and gives the involved partners the motivation to continue and grow what they have together. The romantic music brings back memories of love for the people. We all have favorite love songs, which mean something to us as couples (first dance, first kiss, wedding dance, first….you know). I still remember the first song we ever dance on with my husband at the time we weren’t a couple yet (by the way I will include it in the last 4th part of the Valentines day songs list next week). Do you remember that feeling? Do you recall the thoughts exactly at that moment? Do you still feel the butterflies in your stomach? The excitement?
Through the lyrics, the Valentines day love songs show different aspects of love and have a strong impact on us. Such as knowing how to treat a lady right (for the men) or knowing to treat a man (for the ladies) and keep the relationship going strong. I mean it, try to “listen with understanding” the lyrics, and you’ll realize the strength of the words. There are so many romantic songs that make me excited or even cry- not because they’re sad or dramatic, but so intimate and deep from the heart, expressing that great feeling called LOVE.
Yes, valentines music is worth listening. It’s not sissy or silly at all. Don’t be ashamed of being romantic! Just take your time to HEAR the lyrics, to FEEL the emotions, and prepare your playlist for the Valentines day. Is it too much for you? Aren’t you that romantic kind of person? Oh, come on, I KNOW there’s a part of you hidden deep inside that will actually enjoy at least one song of the list (if not the recent, then in the previous 2 )! I bet! And if I’m not right, feel free to write a comment – “YOU ARE NOT RIGHT! I swear, I’m 100 % not romantic person”.
I challenge you!
So…this week Valentine’s day pickups are the following funky songs (yes, love songs could be also funky, you know….):
#1 “Treasure” by Bruno Mars
“Treasure” is the third single from his second studio album, Unorthodox Jukebox (2012)
Bruno Mars is known for his artistic musical work and this song settles for no less. The song is funky and stylish, talking about the value of a partner. This is one of the valentines day songs that will bring the feel of appreciated love as a treasure to the other through the bouncy beat. It’s fresh and cool and it’s nice to warm up.
…Treasure, that is what you are
Honey, you’re my golden star
You know you can make my wish come true
If you let me treasure you…
#2 ” Love on Top” by the Beyonce
“Love on Top” is a song recorded by the gorgeous Beyonce for her fourth studio album 4 (2011).
Beyonce undoubtedly has musical prowess and her vocals and lyrics on this one tell it all. “Love on top” tells us how beautiful love is even when fighting tears. At end of the day, she finds the love worth it. Love is a priority that remains at the top. Another piece showing that Valentine’s day love songs reflect much on how love is important in our lives.
“Baby it’s you. You’re the one I love.You’re the one I need.You’re the only one I see.
…
You’re the one that gives your all. You’re the one I can always call.
When I need you make everything stop. Finally you put my love on top.”
#3 L.O.V.E. by Jessie J
Citing various influences, Jessie J is recognized for an unconventional musical and performance style that mixes soul vocals with contemporary R&B, pop, electropop, and hip-hop beats. Her live performance is so unique because of her unique vocal. The L.O.V.E. song is track #10 on the album Who You Are. It was written by Cornish, Jessica / Gad, Toby. This song songs quite honest and as written by someone, who is not so fond of romance. But that what love do with us -no matter romantic or not, sooner or later we feel happy.
“…You’re my key, you unlock me, keep me close, keep me safe, keep me happy
so sweet, ooooooh looooove…
it’s destiny, so nothing stops me
I’ll tell the world that your mine, and you got me…”
#4 “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding
“Love Me Like You Do” is a song recorded by the English Ellie Goulding for the soundtrack to the film Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), which was released in cinemas on the last year Valentine’s day 2015. It was a big fuss about the film, so anything related to it became popular. Just like this song. It is nominated for this year Grammy Awards with 2 nominations – for best pop solo performance and BEST SONG WRITTEN FOR VISUAL MEDIA. Jim Farber of the NY Daily News wrote, “With her little-girl-lost voice, Goulding sounds sweet even when she’s courting danger”. The danger of love as it is described in the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy.
“You’re the light, you’re the night
You’re the color of my blood
You’re the cure, you’re the pain
You’re the only thing I wanna touch”
#5 “Love Never Felt So Good” by Michael Jackson ft. Justin Timberlake
“Love Never Felt So Good” is a song performed by American recording artist Michael Jackson, released posthumously on May 2, 2014. Two reworked versions of the 1983 demo track originally composed by Jackson and Canadian singer-songwriter Paul Anka from the first single released from Jackson’s second posthumous album, Xscape. So this is the second version of the song, featuring Justin Timberlake this time. The single charted on number 9 in the US and on number 8 in the UK and it was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration at the 2014 Soul Train Music Awards. Michael is one of the greatest performers ever, one of my favorite artists. Everything that he made is full of love (of all kinds) and there are hundreds of songs to be included in my Valentines day songs playlist. But I choose this one because of her funky beat and the collaboration with Justin, another brilliant artist.
“…Baby, love never felt so good
And I doubt if it ever could..’Cause, baby every time I love you
It’s in and out my life,
…
Tell me, if you really love me
It’s in and out my life..”
#6 “The Way” by Ariana Grande
“The Way” is a song recorded by Ariana Grande for her debut studio album, Yours Truly (2013). Ariana has been topping the international charts, and when you give her your ear it will be clear that she is a songstress. The way two partners handle and express their love for each other is special and different for each couple. A good listen to “The Way” will be a definite plus for your valentines day music plan. “The Way” is a pop/R&B ballad featuring rapper Mac Miller. The song is very reminiscing about early Mariah Carey days.
“You give me that kind of something
Want it all the time, need it everyday
On a scale of 1 to 10 I’m at 100
Never get enough, I can’t stay away”
#7 “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake
“Mirrors” is one my favorite song, recorded by the brilliant singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake. It’s for his third studio album, The 20/20 Experience (2013). The song was nominated for a Grammy Award and a 2013 Teen Choice Award., and actually won two MTV Video Music Awards including Video of the Year. It worth watching the video closely, it keeps you from the beginning to the end (despite being quite long) as it’s telling you a whole love story. Many people could recognize themselves in it. Because Valentine’s day songs therefore also seek to address issues that troubled relationships and the well-being of love (not all is butterflies and smiles). The music, in addition to Justin, to the lyrics and the video, make all a great pleasure of this masterpiece. Enjoy!
“It’s like you’re my mirror
My mirror staring back at me
I couldn’t get any bigger
With anyone else beside of me..
That we’re making two reflections into one
‘Cause it’s like you’re my mirror…”
Well, usually this week’s list of Valentines day songs must ends here, like this. But I decided to “give” you some more romantic vibes with the next 5 songs:
Extra song 1 Love Song by Rihanna ft.Future
I loooove this song. Rihanna’s Love Song is from her seventh album “Unapologetic” featuring Future. It’s not one of her most popular ones, but as you’ll hear it – it’s sensual enough to be played as a music background for the Valentines day (or night better..). Imagine a dimmed light, scented candles, holding tight each other with your loving man….and this gentle song pouring its vibes…
“..I don’t wanna give you the wrong impression,I need love and affection, Oh baby, I’m not asking for the world, maybe baby, come hold me tight and when I’m drowning save me..”
Extra song 2 “You and I” by One Direction
“You & I” is a soft rock ballad that received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who named it a “cinematic”, “elegant” and more “grown-up” ballad. Lyrically, it is a declaration of defiance, where the band sings, “You and I, we don’t want to be like them. We can make it to the end. Nothing can come between you and I. Not even the gods above can separate the two of us”
Extra song 3 “Love Story” by Taylor Swift
It is a song that shows how love grows with both ups and downs. You know the play “Romeo & Juliette”, right? Or maybe the movie with Leo di Caprio. Anyway, here’s the story is almost the same. Taylor has her lesson of what love is about – not only a good and happy moment but bad moments too. Exactly through these lessons partners are able to understand each other, to endure more and look ahead to the future preventing their past mistakes. Every couple could recognize themselves in this song. With the ups and downs. Right?

Extra song 4 “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
A good andbesgifide0e-20 seamless flow of the musical aspects of it bring a tranquil atmosphere for romance. It is truly a well-organized track that will get couples slow-dancing. It is about bracing love and facing it despite challenges that come by. Christina Perri delivers it the best way it would have been.

Extra song 5 “I Found You” by The Wanted
This song talks about love in a different way and is a must listen. Love is revitalized through what we hear and sometimes see positively or negatively. Keeping love flames alive and burning is the best thing one would do to maintain a glowing love life.
Acknowledging valentines day love songs would get even better by referring your friends to the above-mentioned songs. Not only are you supposed to listen but please do internalize the lyrics because they carry messages with them. I guarantee that listening to them won’t be a waste of time and will prove rather lucrative to your love life, valentines day and friends you have referred the music too.
